International Day of Yoga, 21st June 2017 at IIIT-Dharwad


It is great pleasure to announce that International Day of Yoga was celebrated at our institute with great enthusiasm among all the staff members. This occasion was enlighten with the presence of Sri Basavaraj Cholenahalli who talked a great deal about the Yoga & importance of practicing Yoga in our daily life.

In specific, Sri Basavaraj Cholenahalli had taught some of the very basic and important yoga asanas to all the staff members for an about 2hours, which are mentioned below:

  • Parvatasana(ಪರ್ವತಾಸನ)
  • Tadasana (ತಾಡಾಸನ)
  • Urdvamukha hastautpanasana (ಊರ್ಧ್ವಮುಖ ಹಸ್ತಉತ್ಫಾನಾಸನ)
  • Purna padmasana (ಪೂರ್ಣ ಪದ್ಮಾಸನ)
  • Swastikasana (ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಕಾಸನ)
  • Ardha padmasana (ಅರ್ಧ ಪದ್ಮಾಸನ)
  • Sukhasana (ಸುಖಾಸನ)


  • Chandra anuloma, Viloma
  • Surya anuloma, Viloma
  • Nadishuddhi, Nadishodhan
  • Bastrika

Gnana Yoga, , Karma Yoga, Kapalabhati, Raja Yoga, Surya namaskar, Shathkriyas etc.

And also he had explained Yoga is not a religion, it’s a science, science of integrating body, mind & soul. There are 84 lakhs of asanas in yoga & Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India.
